The latest bug in the latest Windows 10 update is a malfunction of the credential manager application that causes the system to “forget” our saved passwords for our favorite pages or applications.

For quite some time, Windows 10 has had a credential manager application where all our accesses are stored for both websites and applications. It is a good application because it does not require us to re-enter our username and password if we have previously decided to save them.
Unfortunately, the May 2010 update (v2004) has a bug that interferes with the credential manager. It breaks the ability of applications, VPN, and also browsers to authenticate users and thus allow them to log into their accounts. Automatic way.
The problem basically what it does is that the Windows credential manager forgets all the stored credentials for both websites and operating system applications, thus requiring us to enter them repeatedly even though they have already been stored.
So far, the user community has reported credential manager failures for Outlook, Acrobat, Lastpass, Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, and OneDrive. Bugs related to VPN connections in Windows security are also being reported.
Microsoft has already recognized the problem, and they are working on a solution, but it may take a few weeks for it to arrive. If you don’t want to wait, we offer you the following two solutions:
Method 1: through your user account
- To do this, we must go to the Windows 10 search bar located in the lower-left part of the interface, and type “your account information.”
- If you don’t have it started, you must log in with a local account. Once you have logged in with the local account, you must restart Windows.
- After the restart, go back to the “account information” application and connect your Microsoft account once again.
This first method is not necessary if you already have the login through a local account enabled, which was the case with the first versions of Windows 10 released on the market.
Method 2: via Command Prompt
- Once again, we use the Windows 10 search box and type “command prompt.”
- Note that we must run it with administrator privileges and enter the following line of code: SFC / scannowDism / Online / Cleanup-Image / RestoreHealth.
If you see that none of the solutions has worked and Windows 10 keeps asking you for the credentials, even though they are already stored, you just have to wait for an update or even revert your operating system to the previous version.
