Before we dive into the details, I want to mention that my previous Flipper Zero alternatives are still valuable and filled with great information. I highly recommend checking those out if you’re looking for a device like this.

Today, I’m thrilled to walk you through updating firmware, installing custom firmware, and adding many apps. We’ll also explore how to update the Wi-Fi Dev board in not just one but two ways. So buckle up; it’s going to be a fun ride!

Step 1: Setup

Before anything else, protect that gorgeous screen with a screen protector. Trust me; it’s worth it. Now, onto the micro SD card. Get a reliable, name-brand 32 or 64-GB card and insert it into Flipper. Don’t forget it goes in upside down – contacts facing you. Once it clicks, you’re good to go.

Step 2: Firmware Update

Fire up Q Flipper, which you can easily find online. Connect your Flipper using the provided USB-C cable and update the firmware. Pro tip: choose the development firmware update channel for the latest features. It’s a breeze with Q Flipper.

Step 3: Installing Apps

Visit flipc.org – a fantastic website for adding apps to your Flipper. While the mobile app has its own app store, flipc.org offers additional unofficial options. Install apps like ESP Flasher to enhance your Flipper’s capabilities.

Step 4: Adding Essential Files

For a seamless experience, I’ve created a repository with all the necessary folders for your SD card. Fork Uber Guido’s repository, clone it using GitHub Desktop and transfer the files to your Flipper’s SD card. It might take a bit, but with 50,000 files, it’s a one-time process.

Step 5: Installing Custom Firmware

Custom firmware opens up a world of possibilities. Use the online flasher on rogemmaster.net for a straightforward installation. Alternatively, you can manually install the firmware using Q Flipper and the latest Dev version of Xfw. It’s a bit more hands-on but gives you greater control.

Step 6: Wi-Fi Dev Board Flashing

The Wi-Fi Dev board is a game-changer. You can easily flash different firmware with apps like FC Flasher and Flipper Zero’s ESP Flasher. Want to dual-boot? No problem. Select the firmware, click install, and watch the magic happen.

Step 7: Dual Booting on the Go

With GPIO and ESP Flasher apps on Q Flipper, you can effortlessly dual-boot your Wi-Fi Dev board. Just select the firmware versions you want, and the Flipper will take care of the rest. Switch between Evil Portal and Marauder with ease.

Conclusion

Congratulations! You’ve successfully set up your Flipper Zero app with updated firmware, a collection of apps, and a dual-booting Wi-Fi Dev board. Now, the possibilities are endless.
